全國卷的英語聽力是筆試的第一部分，占30分；但廣東的聽說考試與筆試分開，只占15分。
從2018年起，高考英語聽力分值為30分，采用計(jì)算機(jī)化考試，與統(tǒng)考筆試分離，聽力一年兩次考試，取聽力最高成績與筆試成績一同組成英語科目成績計(jì)入高考總分。
從2021年起，英語增加口語考試，口語加聽力考試共計(jì)50分，英語科目總分值不變。
遼寧（2020－2022年）、山西、河南、江西、吉林、陜西、內(nèi)蒙古、甘肅、黑龍江、四川、新疆、西藏等。由于教育資源不均衡，一些基層中學(xué)對學(xué)生的聽力訓(xùn)練不夠，所以聽力成績不計(jì)入考試成績。但是，錄取時相關(guān)高校和專業(yè)如需參考，由省教育考試院提供院校參考。
2020年除上海、浙江、天津、北京、山東外，大部分省市都繼續(xù)施行英語科目一年一考，聽力占30分，這是傳統(tǒng)的考試模式，即將在新高考改革中逐漸被取代。
